Kathryn Smith
Biography
Kathryn graduated with a B.S. in Bio-Engineering from Mississippi State University in 2006. She is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Bio-Engineering with Professors Gall and Boyan. She was born in Houston, Texas and has lived in North Carolina and Mississippi. She enjoys playing Texas Hold 'em, playing Set and working out. Kathryn is an avid Grey's Anatomy fan.
Research
Kathryn polymerizes various Shape Memory Polymers to test their mechanical and bio-compatible properties for use in bio-medical applications. She hopes to use the Shape Memory effect to characterize osteoblast adhesion, proliferation and differentiation.
