Bio
Born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, Brian attended Stanton College Preparatory School and was awarded an International Baccalaureate degree. From there he attended the University of Florida and graduated with Highest Honors with a degree in Engineering Science with a minor in Biomechanics. Currently Brian am working at Kimberly-Clark Corporation in Product and Technology Development working on health care related products. At Georgia Institute of Technology, Brian is pursuing a masters degree in Bioengineering in the College of Materials Science and Engineering.Research
The objective of the project is to investigate the link between processing, structure, and thermo-mechanical behavior of radiopaque Nitinol (NiTiPt alloys). Initially NiTiPt wires will be tested to gain fundamental understanding of the mechanical properties of the alloy. The wires will undergo heat treatment at various time and temperature conditions. Thermo-mechanical testing of the heat treated wires involves determination of transformation temperatures, stress-strain response to failure with and without intermittent loading, and hardness. Based on the results from the NiTiPt wires, the investigation will progress to analysis of the thermo-mechanical behavior of NiTiPt tube stock used in stenting applications and eventually determination of local property variability of completed stents.Email: brian.lin@kcc.com
